Hensley: KanCare is fatally flawed, deeply in trouble
The following statement is attributed to Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley, D-Topeka:
“The letter from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services addressing the noncompliance of KanCare, states, ‘This noncompliance, which is detailed in the enclosed KanCare Findings and Recommendations report places the health, welfare, and safety of KanCare beneficiaries at risk and requires immediate action.’
“This is the strongest indictment against a state Medicaid program, and confirms the problems that advocacy groups and constituents have told us about for the past several years.
“The Brownback/Colyer political spin has gone on for far too long. It is time for this administration to stop making things seem better than they really are. Kansans deserve the truth.
“KanCare is fatally flawed and deeply in trouble. The Kansas Legislature must now hold Dr. Colyer and the KanCare system accountable.”
